This project aims to strengthen gender-sensitive federal governance in Myanmar. The project helps to strengthen capacity, awareness, leadership and dialogue for implementing gender-sensitive federal policies and legislation, and strengthen the participation of women as decision-makers in decentralization. The project works with stakeholders including civil society organizations and women’s groups, media, and academia to support governance that is more inclusive for all, especially marginalized groups and women. Project activities include: (1) multi-stakeholder training sessions on key thematic areas of decentralization and the impact on gender equality; (2) development of gender-sensitive curriculum and education materials on federalism; (3) delivery of diploma courses; (4) support for public dialogues on diversity and rights, including women’s rights, democracy, and federalism; (5) a leadership program to strengthen the skills and knowledge for established and young women leaders to advance gender equality and federalism; and (6) an awareness raising program for men and women on the nexus between gender equality and federalism including public dialogues.
