Objet publié
January 2019 – Following the outbreak of violence in Northern Rakhine State in August 2017, more than 735,000 Rohingya crossed from Myanmar into Bangladesh over a period of several months. These refugees joined an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 Rohingya refugees already in Bangladesh following earlier waves of displacement. The majority of the refugees are women and children. With GAC’s support, UN Women works to establish a Gender Hub in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The Gender Hub helps address knowledge and capacity gaps among humanitarian actors in order to strengthen gender-responsive humanitarian action and improve service delivery and outcomes for women and girls affected by this crisis. Project activities include: (1) developing and delivering training courses for international and local humanitarian actors involved in the refugee response on gender awareness and gender sensitivity, gender and diversity, and gender and gender-based violence mainstreaming; and (2) acting as a knowledge management center and gathering assessments and research data to help humanitarian actors strengthen knowledge and evidence-base to design humanitarian interventions with greater impact.
