Objet publié

March 2020 – Following the outbreak of violence in Northern Rakhine State in August 2017, more than 700,000 Rohingya people crossed from Myanmar into Bangladesh over a period of several months. Currently, there are approximately 855,000 Rohingya refugees living in 34 highly congested settlements in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The speed and scale of the influx has resulted in significant humanitarian needs. With GAC’s support, Médecins Sans Frontières is providing emergency health care for refugees and host communities in Cox’s Bazar, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights services. Project activities include: (1) delivering quality and free-of-charge sexual and reproductive health care, including antenatal and postnatal care and family planning for pregnant and lactating women; (2) offering maternity services, neonatal support, paediatric care and 24/7 emergency room services; (3) providing medical treatment for infectious diseases, physical injuries and trauma; and (4) conducting community awareness raising sessions on sexual and reproductive health and sexual and gender-based violence.
