This project aims to strengthen the World Benchmarking Alliance’s Digital Inclusion Benchmark (DIB) to make large technology companies more accountable for their social and environmental impacts on people, workers and communities, especially in developing countries. It supports more inclusive, sustainable and gender-sensitive corporate practices by growing an independent, public benchmark and engaging the stakeholders who can influence company behaviour. Project activities include: (1) developing and updating the DIB methodology and indicators, including gender-sensitive elements; (2) collecting and assessing company data and publishing the methodology and annual results; (3) organizing multi-stakeholder dialogues, roundtables, webinars and outreach with companies, investors, civil society, governments and others; and (4) building collaborative coalitions that turn benchmark insights into concrete action on digital inclusion. Project beneficiaries include the companies assessed by the benchmark and the users of the benchmark who use the findings to inform engagement and decisions. This includes investors and banks, governments and multilateral institutions, civil society organizations and the media. The ultimate beneficiaries are people, workers and communities who gain when companies improve their practices.
