This project supports reform efforts in Myanmar by building the capacity of organizations to generate, share and utilize research knowledge to inform decision making. It strengthens the ability of research institutions and think tanks to undertake strategic planning, communications and engagement with policy makers, human and financial resource management, and resource mobilization. The funding supports research relevant to Myanmar’s priorities. Support is provided to strengthen the capacity and sustainability of local institutions such as think tanks, civil society organizations, and research institutes. The project also works to improve capacity on how to access and use research and evidence to inform planning and policy making. Project activities include: (1) delivering training to improve the ability of 3-5 non-state institutions in strategic planning, communications and engagement with policy makers, human resource management, resource mobilization, and financial management; (2) providing funding for research on key issues related to democratic transition, economic and social development; (3) delivering training on research methodology, analysis and evidence-based policy making; and (4) organizing local knowledge networks and roundtable events with a variety of stakeholders to share knowledge, foster dialogue and inform policy making on key issues related to democratic transition, women’s empowerment, and economic and social development.
