Objet publié

This project aims to improve living conditions for an estimated 800,000 Jordanians and 300,000 Syrians in nine municipalities of Northern Jordan that are highly affected by the influx of refugees fleeing from the conflict in neighbouring Syria. The project seeks to strengthen the ability of Jordanian municipalities to keep up with the delivery of basic services, such as rehabilitating roads or building new roads, support to local economic development, street lighting to improve security and waste collection to improve hygiene. Some project activities include: (i) providing grants to municipalities to improve and expand their ability to provide adequate services in a timely manner, and purchase equipment; (ii) providing technical services to municipalities to assist them with planning and proper procurement; (iii) providing training to ensure that the services provided respond to the needs of citizens; (iv) developing local economic activities to create employment; and (v) helping municipalities to develop emergency preparedness plans to improve their responses to crises.
