The project supports the design of a Statistics Canada survey targeting people who send remittances from Canada to developing countries. The purpose of the survey is to better understand remittance flows from Canada to developing countries, and to better understand the needs of remittance consumers in Canada. Remittances are an important source of income for millions of families in developing countries and can help to pay for nutrition, education, and health care. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to use the survey results to contribute to safer, more reliable and lower-cost remittance services to developing countries."
