Objet publié

October 2016 – On October 4, Hurricane Matthew, a Category 4 storm, tore through the Caribbean causing widespread damage, flooding and displacement in Haiti. Hurricane Matthew has resulted in the largest humanitarian crisis in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake. An estimated 1.2 million people have been affected. With GAC’s support, Action Against Hunger (ACF) is contributing to meeting the emergency water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) needs of vulnerable persons affected by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti. Project activities include: (1) supplying water by water trucking and pumps; (2) rehabilitating community water points; (3) creating local committees for water management and providing training on WASH infrastructure maintenance; (4) constructing and rehabilitating latrines and removing stagnant water from affected communities; (5) conducting WASH and cholera awareness campaigns; and (6) distributing hygiene kits.
