Objet publié

The goal of this conceptual phase is to provide an opportunity for the Métis National Council and the Bartolina Sisa organization to meet. They aim to explore the health conditions currently faced by women and infants at birth, to evaluate the health services provided in remote indigenous communities, and to elaborate a downstream project. This meeting offers an opportunity to define the roles and responsibilities of the two organizations and to establish ways to measure success and to ensure that women are involved in every level of decision-making. It also serves to determine which aspects of maternal health care are priorities for the downstream project. This project is funded through the Indigenous Peoples Partnership Program (IPPP), a pilot program that supports the development priorities of Indigenous peoples in the Latin America and Caribbean region. The IPPP supports initiatives conceived both by Indigenous organizations in that region and by their Canadian Aboriginal partners. The partnerships created through the IPPP contribute to the sustainable development of Indigenous peoples in Latin America and the Caribbean through an exchange of knowledge, experience, expertise, and existing models.
