Objet publié
This project aims to rehabilitate high-priority infrastructure and facilities damaged by the 2007 floods and cyclone Sidr. It enables people to resume their normal lives and reduce their vulnerability to future flood and cyclone damage. The project goal is to contribute to poverty reduction, sustainable development, and disaster risk reduction. Key project components include: i) Rehabilitating high-priority, disaster-damaged facilities to restore access to social services and economic activities. ii) Restoring food security: using a rapid disbursement mechanism, funds are provided to help the Government of Bangladesh finance imports of critical commodities and inputs, including seeds and fertilizer. iii) Supporting capacity-building activities to increase Bangladesh's disaster preparedness and its capacity to mitigate damage from natural disasters. This includes adopting appropriate flood and cyclone-resistant design standards and improving early warning systems.
