Objet publié
This project aims to improve the social and economic well-being of 450,000 women and men in rural areas in South Sudan by improving long-term, sustainable food security, or access to safe, sufficient and nutritious food. The project is designed to serve as a safety net for vulnerable South Sudanese communities in food insecure areas by providing a transition between emergency relief and long-term development. Specifically, the project provides food to women and men in exchange for work on community infrastructure projects, such as irrigation networks, local roads or food storage facilities. By distributing food in exchange for labour, the project seeks to address immediate hunger needs. In the long term, the assets built by communities through the food-for-work activities are expected to improve agricultural production and stimulate economic growth.
