Objet publié

March 2013 - Over the last two years, the conflict in Syria has escalated and triggered refugee flows across the region. Hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees have fled to Jordan and Lebanon and require humanitarian assistance. With CIDA support, Handicap International Canada addresses the immediate health and protection needs of 18,650 Syrian refugees residing in Jordan and Lebanon. The project specifically targets the most vulnerable refugees, such as people with injuries, disabilities, and chronic illnesses, as well as older refugees. Project activities include: supporting health facilities to provide emergency rehabilitation care; setting up a network of community-based disability focal points to identify, assess and refer vulnerable Syrian refugees to appropriate services; and, providing physical rehabilitation, assistive and mobility devices, and psychosocial support to disabled Syrian refugees.
