This project supports the International Criminal Police Organization in the delivery of the tabletop exercise “Operation STONE” (Stop Trafficking of Nuclear Elements), which aims to strengthen national capacities in Colombia and Peru to detect, respond to and investigate security incidents involving nuclear or radiological materials. Project activities include: (1) delivering training to law enforcement, customs, nuclear regulators and other stakeholder agencies; (2) providing electronic equipment to facilitate the scanning of passports at border crossings and crosschecking this information with existing law enforcement databases; and (3) conducting a tabletop exercise to put into practice and validate learning from the training activities.
