This project aims to improve humanitarian assistance planning and delivery in the West Bank and Gaza by improving the coordination and monitoring of humanitarian responses to meet emergency needs in a timely manner. Some project activities include: (i) promoting better coordination and monitoring of, and reporting on, activities that assist vulnerable populations in the area; and (ii) strengthening analysis of gender equality needs, providing training and advocacy on gender equality issues, and better integrating gender-sensitive approaches and systems in humanitarian response strategies and projects. This project is one of over 140 projects that make up the United Nations' 2013 Consolidated Appeal Process (CAP) for the West Bank and Gaza. The 2013 CAP, worth over US$374 million, allows the international community to help spare Palestinians from the worst effects of the ongoing crisis. Delivered through a coordinated approach, this effort provides humanitarian assistance in the essential areas of food, water, health, and nutrition and by increasing the protection of civilians.
