Published purpose

The scope of the project includes work on two segments of the Brock Trail totaling approximately 1 km, and will involve a trail extension, trail reconstruction, benches, signage, solar lighting, and waste disposal receptacles. A new bridge and a replacement bridge will also be completed to connect sections of the trail, but are not a part of the eligible project. The first segment is located between Brock and Perth Streets, will remove the existing asphalt and reconstruct the trail with 3m wide asphalt surface to allow safe travel in both directions for both pedestrians and cyclists, and mobility devices on the trail. The project also includes the addition of solar lights, benches, refuse disposal units and wayfinding signage. The Central Avenue segment includes the redesign of the Brock trail section providing new connections to Central Ave. and Front Ave. This will shift the trail to the east side of Buell's Creek to allow for a widening and regrading of these sections and shifting the trail away from the existing City parking lot so that the trail users are no longer sharing the roadway with cars at the trail entrance. The scope also includes installing benches and wayfinding signage. A new bridge will also be installed to add a crossing over Buell's Creek south of Central Avenue, and a bridge replacement of the existing bridge north of Front Avenue, however, these bridges are not part of the eligible project.
