Published purpose

The Lazo Greenway multi-use pathway project includes 2.5 kilometers of mostly separated multi-use trail adjacent to Lazo Road, running from Butchers Road to Sand Pines Road. This is a partnership project between the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) and the Town of Comox as the trail will run through both jurisdictions. Approximately 1.5 km of the trail will be built within CVRD boundaries and 950 meters will be built within the Town of Comox boundary. The trail width will vary between 2.0 - 3.0 meters and between gravel and asphalt as a surfacing. The gravel sections could vary in width between 2.0 - 2.5 meters due to available space within the road allowance and existing landscape features, the asphalt surfacing would be consistently 3.0 meters in width (see attached engineered design). The multi-use trail will include directional and information signage at entrances to the trail as well as caution signage where necessary. Appropriate pedestrian road crossings are incorporated where necessary as well as landscaping features to provide extra buffer zones between the road and the trail.
