Published purpose

The Project will develop an Active Transportation Plan that will lead to building sidewalks and/or multi use pathways and adding pedestrian lighting that links homes and community buildings with public transit to aid members in safely travelling through the community. The Project will explore ways to better connect community members to local destinations through safe active transportation facilities such as dedicated trails and pathways. A major focus of the Plan will be connecting Chawathil IR#4 and Schkam IR#2 and connecting Schkam IR#2 with the District of Hope. The Active Transportation Plan will develop policies and strategies to create a transportation system that is safe and accessible for all ages and abilities and make links to the community’s Housing Strategy for the design safe neighbourhoods that incorporate sidewalks and street lighting. The Project will incorporate appropriate guidance from the BC Active Transportation Design Guide (2019), and the Provincial active transportation strategy, Move. Connect. Commute., as well as the National Active Transportation Strategy.
