Published purpose
Tsleil-Waututh Nation, located on the North Coast of the Burrard Inlet, is a community of over 500 people committed to growth and economic development through careful investment in residential and commercial property. A key part of this development initiative is an emphasis on the expansion and connection of the community’s active transportation network. This project seeks to connect two development areas within the community, through the construction of multi-use pathways and sidewalks, as well as a bridge over an existing creek. The connection will provide much needed access between the rapidly expanding residential community of Raven Woods, and the newly developed Apex Avenue multi-use residential and commercial zones. The project will include: • 420m of 1.8m width sidewalks. • 412m of 4m width asphalt multi-use pathways. • An approximate 66m long one pier bridge, 16.2m in width that will carry the multi-use pathway (MUP), sidewalk and two driving lanes. (Only the MUP and sidewalk portion are included in the construction estimate.) • Associated landscaping and benches. • Associated streetlighting. The project will seek to balance the need for access between these zones to promote healthy alternatives for commuting with maintaining the integrity of the natural environment through preservation of the existing creek bed with a single pier bridge design that will promote natural flow and fish passage within the creek.
