Published purpose
With cooperation from 29 partnering communities the project aims to proactively implement 1,273 hectares (12,73 km2 ) of vegetation management treatments (fire breaks and fuel reduction) identified in the Community Wildfire Protection Plans developed by the Government of NWT in cooperation with participating communities. The new and upgraded infrastructure will also be designed and built to mitigate current and future impacts of climate change. Once complete, the Project will protect the 29 communities in the Northwest Territories from the threat of wildland fire.
