Published purpose

In 2013, the Town undertook a first AT plan, now, We hope that this second AT plan will provide more completed and connected AT network consisting of a mix of multi-use pathways, sidewalks, and on-road bicycle facilities. The new plan will: 1. Identify opportunities to expand on the existing trails system, with connections to adjacent municipalities (Shore line trail); 2.Review and identify streets that may incorporate options for alternative travel modes such as cycling lanes and widened sidewalks or trails; 3.Review and develop typical design standards for roadways and AT facilities; 4.Optimize the use of existing infrastructure and identify physical improvements and standards required to accommodate a sustainable AT network; 5.Develop a phased implementation plan of recommended improvements, with cost estimates for the proposed infrastructure improvements within the 5-year planning horizon; 6. Research and develop various policies for traffic calming, stop sign guidelines, travel demand management, and promotion of active transportation; 7.Prepare a final report for the Town including updated mapping and design standards.
