Published purpose

Located at 105 Stellar Street in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, The Stellarton Memorial Community Centre Project will renovate the facility formerly known as the Memorial Rink, to service Pictou County across a wide variety of applications that will meet the growing and diverse needs of the population. This Project is crucial for rural communities to have public spaces that are multi-functional and open to hosting a wide variety of activities, whether they be cultural, educational, recreational or other. The Project will see the facility undergo a major renovation to the building envelope, interior, and mechanical systems to allow for all season operation for indoor sports, recreation, and cultural applications. The interior space will be re-imagined from a traditional hockey arena to that of a multi-sport and multipurpose facility. Implementation of this new design will include a complete overhaul of the interior, including playing surfaces, spectator stands, meeting spaces, new restrooms, and services. Directly, the people of Pictou County will benefit from this Project by having a community focused, energy efficient and accessible facility that can adapt to serve the many recreational and cultural groups who are in need of space to hold their events.
