Published purpose

With the construction of a natural detention pond, which will receive runoff from Central and East CLC (Chief Louis Centre) lands, this project will help protect the South Thompson River against the common impacts of urbanization by improving runoff water quality and reducing peak flow rates to the river. It will also help to address existing bank erosion in the area and mitigate potential future erosion. In addition to its stormwater management aspects, the current concept has public use and interaction at its core, including perimeter trails, benches, and interpretive signage that will allow the community to interact with this new waterfront feature. It will also provide habitat for local wildlife.
