Published purpose

Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon, Willow House is at a critical juncture as the demand for our essential services has exceeded our capacity, resulting in over 500 families being turned away annually. Recent provincial projections indicate a growing need for additional spaces in the coming years. A second RMHBC&Y, Willow House, will double the number of families we serve, allowing us to better accommodate long-stay families, who often stay for months and even years at a time. The new House is intentionally designed with studio, one- and two-bedroom units, kitchenettes, storage and other amenities. This green and inclusive community project will create a new, fully accessible, 130,000 sq. ft. building for the public, adding 75 family suites plus, common indoor and outdoor areas. This net-zero project will enable us to meet the current and future demand for families by providing essential social infrastructure enabling equitable access to pediatric health care, and reducing the burdens faced by travelling families.
