Published purpose

This funding application is intended to address a planned but unfunded segment of protected bike lane that will extend a fully funded segment of protected bike lane to be constructed as part of an upcoming road renewal project. River and Stradbrook Avenues are an east/west one-way couplet in the Osborne Village neighbourhood of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The design of the bike lanes involves the reallocation of road space from motor vehicles to bikes and people through the construction of new separated, protected bike lanes. The protected bike lanes will be uni-directional, following the flow of traffic and functioning together as a couplet. The protected bike lanes are approximately 2.5 kilometers in their entirety. Approximately one kilometer of this length will be funded and included in an existing road renewal project and the remaining section would be funded through this application and already secured match funding.
