The Little Etobicoke Creek Stormwater Management project in Mississauga, Ontario aims to address critical stormwater management challenges within a 1.1-kilometre section of the creek corridor. This capital project involves rehabilitating and upgrading the watercourse and associated infrastructure to mitigate flood risks in the provincially designated Special Policy Areas (SPAs) of Applewood and Dixie/Dundas. The project includes deepening and widening the creek, expanding the bridges on Dixie Road and Dundas Street, and implementing erosion protection measures. The primary objective is to reduce flood risks and enable housing growth by revising SPA boundaries and amending restrictive planning policies. The outcome will unlock approximately 15 hectares of land for 6,300 housing units, enhance stormwater management capacity, and support long-term densification in the Dixie GO Major Transit Station Area. This project will safeguard over 1,000 existing properties, improve climate resiliency, and align with Mississauga’s growth and environmental goals.
