Published purpose

The Avonlough Sanitary Pumping Station and Conveyance project in Belleville, Ontario addresses critical infrastructure needs to support residential development. This capital project involves constructing a new sanitary pumping station with an initial capacity of 100 litres per second (L/s), for 1,800 housing units, expandable to 490L/s to ultimately service approximately 9,000 units. The project includes installing twin force mains, new gravity and pressure sewers along Bridge Street West, and decommissioning the existing small pumping station. The new station will feature two wet wells, submersible pumps, and backup power. The new station will replace aging infrastructure, improve capacity, and ensure reliable sanitary service. The outcome will unlock development lands in the Loyalist West Secondary Plan area, supporting growth for approximately 30 years and enhancing public health and worker safety.
