This project aims to strengthen inclusive governance in Vietnam, a key priority for the Government. There is a need for civil servants to be better equipped to deliver public services inclusively, addressing the needs and demands of all citizens, including marginalized groups. The project seeks to develop, pilot, and implement innovative, practical, and inclusive capacity-building interventions. It does so to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Academy of Public Administration and Governance (APAG) and modernize its public administration and leadership curriculum to align with international standards for effective and inclusive governance and leadership. The project also supports current and prospective women civil service leaders develop leadership skills and build network opportunities to better position them for future job opportunities in the public sector. Project activities include: (1) training APAG public officials on inclusive and effective local governance and leadership curriculum; (2) facilitating networking and dialogue on local governance for APAG officials and faculty, including a knowledge exchange visit to Canada and participation in international and regional events; (3) developing a master’s degree program on inclusive and effective local governance for civil service leaders; (4) establishing and operationalizing a local governance innovation hub for civil service leaders to enable connections with domestic, Canadian and international policy innovators; (5) designing a leadership course for women civil service leaders; and (6) launching an awareness campaign on women’s leadership potential for prospective women civil service leaders. This project benefits up to 970 individuals, including men and women civil servants and public officials from APAG across all 6 targeted provinces.
