This project leverages the partnership between the World Health Organization (WHO) Pandemic and Epidemic Information Centre and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). It aims to strengthen capacities in biosafety and integrated disease surveillance to reduce biological threats, whether intentional, natural, or accidental, and builds on phase I of the Africa Health Security Partnership. Project activities include: (1) establishing a robust biosurveillance system in selected countries; (2) organizing targeted training in interdisciplinary social research at the subnational level to improve the rapid identification and detection of biological threats; and (3) providing comprehensive training programs on pandemic information and data science for public health professionals in participating countries.
