Objet publié
The project aims to improve the economic well-being and reduce the vulnerability of approximately 3,000 families in the departments of Sud and Grand'Anse in Haiti. Support through this project in coffee production supply chains is based on an agro-ecology and agro-forestry approach. The project is helping to restore production capacity, restructure the coffee value chain and encourage better adaptation to climate change. The project also aims to promote the economic power of women and young people, not only in production but also in processing and marketing. Training, technical support and access to credit, capital and production inputs are being provided, and changes in social and political norms are being sought. Several intervention strategies, including strengthening producers' associations and cooperatives, are helping to strengthen the democratic and inclusive governance of the coffee production sector in order to maximise its economic, social and environmental potential. The project also aims to help the sector adapt to climate change, and supports applied research activities, the strengthening of sustainable seed management mechanisms and the promotion/introduction of green technologies.
