This project aims to improve the capacity to combat human trafficking, reduce impunity for transnational criminal networks, and provide greater human rights protection to victims, particularly for women and girls, in Panama, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Project activities include: (1) providing advanced training program for specialized investigators in Panama on gender-responsive investigation protocols to collection valuable evidence, existing laws and regulations, human rights, gender bias and stereotypes, and trauma-informed human trafficking; (2) developing expert analysis reports on the prevalence of Human Trafficking in the region and the gender-informed response by justice institutions, taking into account human rights, gender bias, stereotypes and Gender-Based Violence, and disseminated among regional justice professionals and policy-makers; (3) conducting regional training workshops on human trafficking and transnational crime for prosecutors, investigators and analysts on Major Case Management, transnational investigations, cyber analysis and financial analysis, with a gender perspective; and (4) providing coaching to prosecutors in strengthening prosecution strategies and techniques for human trafficking cases, using a human rights approach and a gender-sensitive approach.
