This project aims to strengthen Vietnam’s legal capacity to support international trade and investment. It focuses on strengthening the capacity of government institutions and legal professionals to manage trade and investment issues, while promoting gender equality through greater participation of women in trade-related legal professions and expanded opportunities for women-led enterprises. Project activities include: (1) developing and delivering training programs and learning resources on international trade and investment law for public officials and legal professionals; (2) supporting exchanges between Vietnamese and Canadian experts and strengthening professional networks related to trade, investment and gender equality; (3) supporting the Ministry of Justice to develop legal and regulatory frameworks for International Financial Centres in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang; (4) strengthening institutional frameworks and professional capacity for international commercial mediation and arbitration; and (5) identifying and addressing legal and regulatory barriers that affect trade, investment and women-led enterprises. The project benefits government institutions, legal professionals and public officials with trade related legal responsibilities, Vietnamese enterprises, including women-led businesses, and international investors and trading partners. The Canadian Bar Association implements this project in partnership with Vietnam’s Ministry of Justice.
