This project aims to improve the nutritional and financial security of women, youth and young children in six selected districts in northern Ghana. The project seeks to achieve this by supporting beneficiaries to increase agricultural productivity and diversify crop varieties while promoting gender equality in families and communities to facilitate a more inclusive value chain and business environment for the crops developed. Project activities include: (1) training women and men in equitable nutrient availability and child feeding practices; (2) promoting households to participate in farming as a business club using men and women as joint collaborators to build business skills; (3) engaging women and men in Village Savings and Loan Associations to promote access to financial services; (4) advocating to higher-level policymakers to integrate the Healthy Living Clubs approach into the Ministry of Health standard practice throughout Northern Ghana; (5) reaching 32,000 clients and non-direct beneficiaries with nutritious food promotion; and (6) providing gender-responsive and generationally-relevant business skills training. This project directly benefits at least 9,612 women, 5,292 men and 7,560 children under five years of age, with indirect beneficiaries of community-based activities numbering approximately 15,120 rural household members.
