Objet publié
This project aims to improve the educational level of Syrian refugee children in their host country, Egypt, more specifically in schools located in Alexandria, Damietta, Cairo and Qalyoubeya. Egypt has seen a major influx of Syrian refugees following the onset of the Syrian crisis. Children are the most vulnerable group in both refugee and host communities, and Egypt’s Ministry of Education is struggling to cope with additional demands. The project aims to increase the retention of Syrian and Egyptian children in schools, and improve their learning environment. Project activities include: (1) distributing fortified nutritious snacks to students; (2) improving school facilities; (3) providing nutritional awareness-raising training sessions and community outreach; and (4) conducting awareness-raising sessions on the importance of education. Up to 195,620 Syrian and Egyptian girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 12 are expected to benefit from the project, as well as 1,000 Egyptian school teachers and parents of Syrian children.
