This project aims to enable returnees in newly liberated areas of Anbar and Ninewah, Iraq, to more effectively resolve housing, land and property disputes and access essential civil documentation. Project activities include: (1) improving engagement between government, humanitarian and peacebuilding actors, and customary justice systems; (2) ensuring more effective resolution of housing, land and property disputes by ethno-religious and tribal leaders in conformity with Iraqi and international law and through participation in more formal legal processes; and (3) improving sustainable access to civil documentation and/or housing, land and property by returnees.
