The Canadian International Development Scholarship Program (CDISP) aims to enhance social and economic development for women and men, particularly women, in eligible Francophonie and Commonwealth countries, as well as other Small Island Developing States (SIDS). This program seeks to increase inclusive and equitable access to quality higher education and skills training, adapted to local needs. It also aims to promote equitable integration into the labour market, through better collaboration between the productive sector (labour market) and educational institutions. This program aims to create better match between training and employment. It also seeks to enhance cooperation and synergies between scholars, institutions in Canada and abroad, and with beneficiary countries. This will leverage expertise and experience in research, applied research and innovation that meets local needs. Projects activities include: (1) offering scholarships in key thematic areas that will be adapted to meet diverse needs, such as short or long-term; hybrid and customized training for scholarship recipients and learners; the pursuit of higher studies or skills training; and opportunities in their home country or in Canada; (2) offering training in leadership, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship to scholarship recipients, learners, management and administrative staff and professors; (3) strengthening supporting mechanisms for professional integration into higher education institutions; (4) creating and strengthening collaboration mechanisms between stakeholders in innovation, research and applied research; and (5) creating networks facilitating the professional integration of scholarship recipients. This program is expected to directly reach 7,067 people, including 3,604 women.
