This project works to bring together state and non-state actors operating in the coastal counties of Kwale and Lamu, to enhance collaboration and networking to emerging security issues. Project activities include: (1) hosting peace cafes that facilitate dialogue surrounding the causes of violent extremism in order to develop sustainable peace and development in the region; (2) hosting Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Government Agencies Engagement Forums to help support improved coordination, sharing of security information, and building trust between CSOs and government agencies; (3) facilitating a Women and Girls summit to amplify the voices of disadvantaged groups in combatting violent extremism; (4) providing training to security actors in order to build capacities on human rights based policing and enhance trust between them and the communities; and (5) initiating youth conventions that bring together young leaders and youth groups to discuss critical issues that affect young people such as radicalization, unemployment, and social integration.
