This project aims to improve educational achievement for Indigenous students, especially girls, in the Alta Verapaz and Quiché regions of Guatemala. It seeks to support safer, more inclusive learning by strengthening students’ academic, digital, and leadership skills, and by reducing barriers that prevent girls from staying in school. Project activities include: (1) providing scholarships, leadership training, and life skills development for Indigenous youth mentors; (2) developing culturally relevant e learning resources and training teachers and youth mentors to use digital tools in classrooms; and (3) delivering gender equality workshops for teachers, parents, community leaders, and students to help create learning environments that support girls’ education. The project engages 3,624 direct beneficiaries (3,480 Indigenous students), majority girls. It also reaches 5,664 indirect beneficiaries through the families of participating mentors and mentees, for a total of 9,248 people. At least 95% of all beneficiaries are Indigenous, and at least 60% being women.
