This project seeks to improve the prevention and response to all forms of violence, exploitation and abuse against children, especially the most vulnerable, by helping to increase the effectiveness of partnerships to address child protection. Using a case study approach, this project provides a comprehensive overview of the current country-owned systems in place for children’s protection from violence, exploitation and abuse in a number of countries. It also identifies the financial aspects of child protection systems strengthening efforts. This project enables Canada to support the system strengthening efforts of governments, UNICEF and other actors to map progress and remaining gaps for strengthening child protection systems in Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal and Colombia. The goal of the project is to support governments to highlight good practices and costs for scaling up financial commitments in order to share this widely within the countries studied as well as globally with development partners to help strengthen child protection systems that address all forms of violence against children. Project activities include: (1) desk review and research; (2) technical consultations on child protection systems and investments in each country; (3) drafting comprehensive case studies; and (4) delivery of final case studies to DFATD.
