Objet publié

December 2014 - Typhoon Hagupit (locally known as Ruby) made landfall in the Philippines on December 6 with maximum winds and gusts of up to 195 km/h. It closely followed the trajectory of Typhoon Haiyan that devastated the country only 13 months earlier. Hagupit killed 21 people and caused severe damage to infrastructure, including homes, roads, schools and health centres in the east of Samar Island. As communities are still recovering from last year’s storm, there are serious concerns about the humanitarian impact of this year’s strongest storm. With DFATD’s support, Global Medic is providing immediate access to clean drinking water and hygiene support to 1,000 typhoon-affected families. The project also provides support to the humanitarian community and local governments to help identify priority needs.
