Objet publié
March 2015 - As a result of military operations, floods and droughts, the overall number of IDPs in Pakistan increased in 2014 from under 1 million in January to 1.38 million by November 2014. In addition, Pakistan is hosting 1.6 million Afghan refugees. Malnutrition is an ongoing concern and the UN estimates that 1.78 million children under the age of five and 1.08 million pregnant and lactating women are severely malnourished and are in need of urgent assistance. Priority humanitarian needs include basic food and services for the displaced population and protection for conflict-affected populations. With DFATD’s support, CARE Canada is (1) deploying mobile clinics to provide antenatal, postnatal, and family planning services to meet unmet health needs in the displaced population; (2) establishing “Women Friendly Spaces” to provide counselling and other support services; and, (3) providing cash-assistance to the most vulnerable women in the displaced population.
