Objet publié
At the height of the 20-year conflict in Uganda, an estimated 1.8 million persons were displaced and living in internally displaced populations (IDPs) camps. In 2007, despite the improvement in security in northern Uganda, certain districts saw a deterioration in health and mortality-related indicators when populations moved to transit sites or villages of origin where basic services, such as access to health care and clean water, were not available. This project provides and improves sanitation facilities and reduces the risk of widespread disease by improving access to sufficient and safe water for students in schools located near IDP camps and transit sites in Pader and Kitgum districts, northern Uganda. World Vision provides blocks of latrines to twenty selected schools; each school receiving at least two blocks of latrines, one for girls and one for the boys.
