Objet publié

September 2009 - The 'sixth war' between Government forces and Shia al-Houthi tribal groups broke out on August 12th 2009, after the collapse of the most recent year-long truce in Yemen. The United Nations reports that at least 150,000 people have been displaced by the new wave of fighting in Sa'ada province, and are being housed in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps and with host families. CIDA's contribution is helping the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Activities undertaken by the ICRC include IDP camp management, the provision of basic health care, shelter, and essential relief items, improvement of access to safe water and sanitation services, protection services, and the promotion and monitoring of International Humanitarian Law. The ICRC's mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance.
