Objet publié

16 September, 2010 - Pakistan is experiencing its worst monsoon flooding in at least 80 years. Government estimates put the number of people affected by the floods at 21 million. Millions of people have been displaced and over 1.8 million houses have been either damaged or destroyed. Assessments to establish the degree to which affected populations are in need of immediate humanitarian assistance continue. Through this project, CIDA is deploying an additional 5,000 shelter kits, 3,600 kitchen sets, 2,128 hygiene kits and 14,000 tarpaulins from its stockpile of emergency relief supplies, managed by the Canadian Red Cross Society, to support the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) emergency relief operations. These supplies are being provided at the request of the IFRC and are distributed in Pakistan by the IFRC and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society.
