With CIDA support, World Relief Canada is addressing the basic needs of 42,690 conflict-affected people in Ed Daein and Kass localities, South Darfur, Sudan. Project activities focus on: increasing access to safe water supply and sanitation, through the rehabilitation and maintenance of 18 water points and the construction of 6 institutional latrines and 500 household latrines; reducing malnutrition and improve health and hygiene practices, through training sessions on communicable diseases; providing psycho-social support to women and children affected by the conflict, through the establishment and operation of 4 child-friendly spaces; and, reducing vulnerability of newly displaced populations through the distribution of non-food items, seeds and tools.
