With CIDA support, Oxfam Quebec is meeting the immediate needs of targeted vulnerable families in the northern, northern central, and Sahel regions of Burkina Faso, areas heavily affected by the food and nutrition crisis. Activities focus on: income generating initiatives, including cash-for-work activities as well as cash transfers for vulnerable populations during the peak of the lean season; provision of seeds, tools, fertilizer, and agricultural training to farm families, and fodder to pastoral families; and improving access to water in regions where drought forces local communities and livestock to share the same water sources.
