Objet publié
This project seeks to build socially responsible, environmentally sustainable, and transparent mining and gas sectors able to provide better economic opportunities for all Mozambicans. The project helps to inform the Government of Mozambique’s institutional reform of mining and gas sector management by focusing on issues such as extractive industry tax administration and management of the environmental and social impacts of mining and gas development. The project works with key institutions such as the Ministry of Mineral Resources, the Ministry for the Coordination of Environmental Affairs and the Ministry for Women and Social Affairs. The project undertakes institutional assessments to identify critical gaps in the mining and gas sectors, raise awareness of these gaps among the Government of Mozambique and other stakeholders, and suggest ways to address the gaps. In the longer term, the project aims to ensure strong foundations for responsible resource management and create more opportunities for Mozambican women and men to contribute to, and benefit from, economic growth.
