This project aims to measure the current status of women and to show how they see themselves as members of society, of the economy, and the political system in countries of the Middle East and North Africa. The project aims to accomplish this by combining individual-level public opinion data and country-level statistical data into a set of comprehensive and comparable indicators and corresponding policy recommendations. The project also aims to build the capacity of local non-governmental organizations (NGO) seeking to improve women’s well-being by providing these NGOs with information, the tools to develop policy recommendations from this information, and the skills for working on media awareness-raising campaigns, and activities with parliaments to advance issues of women’s status.
