Objet publié
The aim of the project is to commercialize novel strain-specific bio-sensors capable of distinguishing low concentrations of pathogenic bacteria in near-real-time regime, implement a scalable manufacturing methodology for rapid pathogen detection sensors, and pilot the complete pathogen detection systems with 4-5 early adopters. The sensor technology will be developed alongside automated sampling and processing platform capable of independent operation at a food processing and water treatment plants. At the completion of the project the Kraken automated system will be able to intake, analyze, store, transmit data, and detect pathogenic bacteria at low concentrations, all in real time regime and with minimal to no human intervention. Ecoli Sense’s technology will prevent pathogen related food recalls throughout the supply chain by identifying the pathogen contamination during food processing and having food quality information in real-time. Ecoli Sense expects to commercialize its technology in protein and vegetables food processing sector in Canada and the World beginning in 2022. The cumulative environmental benefits, in Canada alone, over the 10 year period are estimated to be GHG emission reductions of over 22 megatonnes CO2e, water savings of over 6 billion m3, landfill avoidance of over 330 kilotonnes, agricultural land use savings of over 10 million hectares.
